Hotel owner allegedly shoots peeing man
A hotel owner from Corozal town is in trouble with the law after he allegedly shot a man who was peeing near his establishment.
The victim has been identified as Francisco Castaneda. According to police, Castaneda told them that around 2 am on Sunday, he went into an open lot beside the hotel on First Avenue to urinate, when he heard a loud bang.
Castaneda says that she saw a woman who he described as being of “clear skin” standing on the hotel’s verandah with what appeared to be a rifle in his hands.
Castaneda says that he felt pain in his left lower arm and realized that blood was running down and realized that he had been shot.
Police say Castaneda’s injury has been certified as wounding and they have arrested and charged Gwyn Lawrence for the crime of wounding.
