Hurricane Dorian heading for the US mainland
Punta Gorda, TOLEDO. Thursday, August 29, 2019. Hurricane Dorian is taking aim at U.S. State of Florida.
Forecasters at the Miami-based National Hurricane Center predict that when it makes landfall early next week, possibly on Tuesday morning, Hurricane Dorian will be a major storm packing winds of over 110 miles per hour.
On Thursday night, Hurricane Dorian was centered at 22.5 North 67.6 West and carrying maximum sustained winds of 85 miles per hour.
Hurricane Dorian, on Thursday night, was 330 miles east of the southeastern Bahamas and moving in a north-westerly direction with a forward speed of 13 miles per hour.
Belizeans living in Florida have been asked to be on alert and to make all necessary preparations to be safe during this emergency.
The Belize Consulate in Florida is asking Belizeans in the State to “heed all warning signs and if your County’s relevant Officials are requiring you to evacuate your home, please do so.”
