Junior Colleges to debate UNCAC
BELMOPAN, CAYO | June 12, 2019. Two groups of Junior College students will square off on Friday, June 14 in Belmopan to debate whether or not the United Nations Convention Against Corruption will be an effective mechanism to stomp out corruption in Belize.
Students from Sacred Heart College Junior College and Stann Creek Ecumenical College Junior College will engage on the topic: “Be it resolved that the only legally binding Anti-corruption instrument in the world (UNCAC), will never be able to completely eradicate corruption.”
The debate will take place at the George Price Center for Peace and Development in Belmopan starting at 10 am on Friday.
Simultaneously, there will also be a online poll and people attending the event will be able to vote via ballot boxes that will be set up at the entrance to the debate room.
The debate is the initiative of the United Nations Development Program, Government of Belize and United States embassy in Belize.
