Major Crimes Unit investigates passports found in San Ignacio
Thursday, October 22, 2015. San Ignacio, Cayo. Police in San Ignacio town say they have interviewed several persons and investigations into the discovery of a bag containing different passports earlier this week.
According to police reports, on Tuesday afternoon, they were called to a business establishment in San Ignacio where the bag containing 8 passports was handed over to them.
Police say that inside the bag were 4 Salvadoran passports, 1 Belizean passport, 1 US passport, 1 Guatemalan passport and 1 Honduran passport.
Police say the passports found in San Ignacio town have now been handed over to the Major Crimes Unit in Belmopan for full investigation.
Meanwhile, the Standard Bearers for the People’s United Party (PUP) in and around San Ignacio/Santa Elena and their supporters carried out a “peaceful” protest on Wednesday afternoon in front of the San Ignacio police station.
The PUP supports and standard Bearers are calling for a proper investigation of the discovery of the passports and the questioning of the person they believe is the owner of the knapsack in which the passports were found.
