Man chopped in the head in Belmopan

A chopping incident in Belmopan on Thursday afternoon has left one man injured and another in police detention.
Authorities say that around 4 pm on Thursday they were informed of a chopping incident and when they visited Guatemala street in the Salvapan area of Belmopan, they found Amilcar Alvarado Cortez, 42, bleeding profusely.
Cortez had been chopped in the left side of the head and right arm. He was taken to the Western Regional hospital for treatment.
Police have since detained one person in connection with the incident as their investigations continue.
