Man crushed to death in San Ignacio town
San Ignacio, CAYO. Wednesday, January 13, 2016. TNC: A man from Corozal town was crushed and killed in a traffic accident on Tuesday evening in San Ignacio town.
The victim has been identified as twenty five year old Doyle Anthony Barahona, laborer of a Corozal Town address.
Police say that Barahona was a passenger in a Freightliner Truck that was coming down a hill in San Ignacio town when he was crushed by the righ wheel of the truck.
The driver of the truck forty seven year old David Dominguez told authorities that as he reached near the St. Gabriel Medical Center, he tried to pull over, but was experiencing difficulties with the brakes on the truck.
Dominguez says that he asked Barahona to get out of the truck and put a rock in front of one of the back wheels to help the vehicle come to a stop.
Dominguez says he lost control of the truck laden with cement and the vehicle ran down the hill off the right side of the road and the rear right wheel crushed Barahona against the hill.
When police arrived at the scene, which is not far from the San Ignacio police station, officers found Barahona trapped between the rear right wheel of the truck and the hill, and he was motionless and bleeding from the neck, shoulder and face.
Anthony Barahona was transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver of the truck David Dominguez has been served with a Notice of Intended Prosecution.
Investigation continues.
