Man pleads guilty to keeping firearm and ammo without a gun license
Reports from Belmopan say that Belize City resident Noel Alexander Torres, 29, has plead guilty to a trio of charges brought against him and two others this morning in the Belmopan Magistrate’s Court.
Torres and two others were charges for kept firearm and ammunition without a license and handling stolen goods.
This follows the discovery of a 9 millimeter pistol at a residence in Teakettle village where Torres and the two others persons were present at the time police conducted a search on Monday.
Information received says Torres pleaded guilty to the charges of kept firearm without a gun license, kept ammunition without a gun license and handling stolen goods.
He was immediately sentenced to five years in prison each on the first two charges and one year in jail on the third charge. The sentences are to run concurrently and so Torres will only spend 5 years in jail.
The other two persons arrested along with Torres, Blanca Dominguez, 41 and Miguel Dominguez, 49, were both remanded to the Belize Central prison are scheduled to reappear in the Belmopan Magistrate’s Court on December 12.
The trio was busted on Monday in Teakettle village and found to be in possession of a 9 millimeter pistol that was reported stolen from murdered taxi driver Daniel Aguirre.
The burnt remains of Aguirre’s body were found inside his vehicle on Saturday morning on the Roaring River road in Teakettle village.
Police say that during a search of Miguel Dominguez’ residence, they found a “CZ-75 Compact brand 9mm pistol along with 20 live rounds of ammunition” belonging to Aguirre.
