Maskall village water system being rehabilitated
Maskall village, BELIZE. Wednesday, March 9, 2016. Yolanda Habet-Jones Reporting: Ground was broken this afternoon in rural Belize district for the rehabilitation of the Maskall village Rudimentary Water System.
The project, will seeks to upgrade the village’s water system is in keeping with Government’s commitment to providing the basic needs of citizens in areas such as water, sanitation and health.
Close to 1,500 residents of Maskall village will benefit from the rehabilitated Rudimentary Water System.
The project is being implemented at a cost of just under a million dollars or $999,494.96, with funds being accessed through a loan from the Caribbean Development Bank.
The scope of works being carried out involved the construction of a forty thousand gallon water tank, pump house, and the installation of transmission and distribution lines.
Project supervision is being provided by the Social Investment Fund.
Present at this afternoon’s ground breaking ceremony in Maskall village were area representative Edmund Castro, Minister of Economic Development Erwin Contreras, Minister of Local Government Hugo Patt and the Executive Director of the Basic Needs Trust Fund William Lamb, Sr.
Chairman of Maskall village Leslie Pascascio and Chair of the village’s Water Board Ilda Swift were also in attendance at today’s ground breaking ceremony in Maskall village.
