Maya leaders discuss border incursions with Minister John Saldivar

Punta Gorda, TOLEDO. Wednesday, June 20, 2018. The Minister of National Security John Saldivar has met with Maya leaders in the Toledo district.
A post on the Ministry’s social media page reported that the meeting took place today in Dolores village.
According to the post, today’s meeting discussed border incursion concerns by residents of rural Toledo communities that are in close proximity to the Belize-Guatemala border.
There have been persistent reports of illegal incursions by Guatemalans into Belize’s territory, the latest in southern Belize being in the area of Ottoxha.
Minister Saldivar was accompanied on today’s visit by Chief Executive Officer Felix Enriquez, Belize Ambassador to Guatemala Alexis Rosado and the Deputy Commander of the Belize Defence Force Colonel Loria.
