Mentally challenged woman allegedly raped in Corozal

Police in Corozal are investigating the alleged sexual assault of a mentally challenged teenager from a village in northern Belize.
Because of the nature of the incident, no names can be mentioned; but the alleged crime was reportedly committed by the girl’s stepfather.
Police were called to the Corozal hospital on Boxing Day to investigate after a report by a woman that she was raped.
A sister of the alleged victim told police that the 18 year old who is mentally challenged was sexually assaulted by her stepfather sometime between December 19 and December 23.
Police investigations continue.
