‘Mighty Sparrow” hospitalized in coma
The family of world-famous Calypsonian the Might Sparrow, has issued a statement asking his fans to pray for him.
The entertainer, whose real name is Slinger Francisco, was reported to be hospitalized in a coma at a hospital Queen’s New York on Tuesday.
The family statement, which was published in the Nation newspaper in Barbados says: “The family of Slinger Francisco, the Mighty Sparrow, is sad to announce that the Calypso King Of The World is in a New York hospital in a coma. The family is asking fans and the people of Trinidad and Tobago to pray for him and to respect their privacy. An update on his progress will be announced.”
According to the Nation newspaper, the Mighty Sparrow has been battling health challenges for the past three years, including multiple hospitalizations for complications caused by diabetes.
