Miss Universe delegate donates to Haven House
Belize City, BELIZE. Tuesday, September 3, 2019. She’s a delegate for the upcoming Miss Universe Belize pageant and on Friday, August 20, 2019, Aarti Sooknandan took time out of her busy schedule to make a contribution to the work of the Haven House Belize.
The facility, as the name infers, provides a safe haven for victims of domestic violence, providing much needed support and intervention for women in crisis situation and their children.
On Friday morning Miss Sooknandan handed over a donation of $1,200 that will go a long way in assisting the work of Haven House Belize.
The generous donation from the Miss Universe Belize delegate was handed over during a brief ceremony at the Living Room inside the Northern Shop on the Phillip Goldson Highway in Belize City.
The donation, which is part of the community outreach by delegates of Miss Universe Belize, was received with thankfulness by the vice president of Haven House Belize alyssa Carneige.
The majority of the money that was handed over came from the proceeds of the sale of one of her paintings, as Aarti Sooknandan is a talented artist and the grandeur of her skills was aptly captured in the painting of our national bird, the Keel-billed toucan.
According to Sooknandan, the painting sold for “over $400 USD.”
That sale, combined with a GoFundMe drive earned the $1,200 that was handed over last Friday.
Aarti Sooknandan takes to the big stage this coming Friday, September 6, 2019, in the hopes of capturing the coveted title of Miss Universe Belize 2019-2020.
