Motorcyclist perishes in Sunday night crash
Belize City, BELIZE. Monday, January 9, 2017. Police in Ladyville village, Belize district are looking for a hit-and-run driver involved in a fatal incident on the Phillip Goldson Highway on Sunday night.
It happened around 9:30 pm on Sunday and claimed the life of 21 year old Jamalski Young.
Police say that when officers arrived at the scene between miles 8 and 9 on the Phillip Goldson Highway, they found Young engulfed in flames.
A motorcycle he was riding was also engulfed in flames.
Police say that efforts were made to put out the fire, but not before Young succumbed to his injuries.
The police say that their investigation shows that Yong was riding his motorcycle on the Phillip Goldson Highway when as he reached near Blue’s Nightclub, a white vehicle reversed into him.
The resulting impact flung Young and the motorcycle to the pavement, and the motorbike burst into flames, engulfing him in the process.
Authorities say the driver of the vehicle then fled the scene. Jamalski Young was the father of one daughter. Investigations continue.
