Murder in Benque Viejo del Carmen town
Police in Benque Viejo del Carmen are investigating a homicide in Belize’s western-most municipality.
The victim has been identified as Pedro Antonio Vasques, 51, a Guatemalan laborer residing on River Side street in the town.
Police say that around 4 am on Sunday, they found Vasques lying on the right hand side of Churchill Street. He had two large cut wounds to the forehead and a deep puncture wound to the left side of the nose.
Vasques was pronounced dead at the San Ignacio community hospital about an hour and half aftr being found on the street side by police.
A thirty year old resident of Hudson Lane, Benque Viejo del Carmen town have been detained by police for questioning in connection with the murder.
