Murder in Cristo Rey village, Cayo
There are reports of a murder in Cristo Rey village, Cayo. According to reports received, the victim is a young man, believed to be in his early twenties. The body of the man is still on the road at the entrance to the village and police are on their way to the scene. More information will be posted as they become available.
UPDATE: Reports from Cristo Rey village says that the body of the murder victim is still on the ground as the police continue to process the crime scene. The young man, believed to be in his early 20’s. Early indications are that his throat was cut. The police are now talking with the father of the victim.
UPDATE: There are reports that the person suspected of committing the murder has been taken into police custody. The murder happened near the center of the village on the curve heading into the village when traveling from San Ignacio town.
UPDATE: The victim of tonight’s murder is Cristo Rey village, Cayo has been identified as Leroy Tzib, 20. Both his mother and father have been duly notified of the tragic incident. Unconfirmed reports are that Tzib and another young man, believed to be in his 20’s were at a restaurant when they got into an argument. The youths reportedly took the misunderstanding outside and that is where it quickly escalated to bloodshed. Preliminary information received suggests that Tzib was stabbed to the right side of the abdomen and his throat was slit.
