Murder near Buena Vista village, Cayo
A retired Canadian national identified as Keith Dawson Halsam, 67, was found dead late last week near Buena Vista village in the Cayo district.
Reports are that Halsam was found face down on the banks of a creek about 6 miles east of Buena Vista village.
Initial reports are that Halsam’s body which had a chop wound behind the neck was retrieved on Saturday and a post mortem examination was scheduled for Sunday.
The result of that post mortem examination has not yet been released by the police.
While the police department has not yet released details of the investigation so far, sources say that a motive for the murder appears to have been jealousy arising out of a love triangle.
As we said, police have not provided details as yet, but it is understood that the girlfriend of the deceased and another man are in police detention pending the outcome of the investigation.
The man in custody has allegedly given what is known as a “caution statement” in which he allegedly admitted to killing the Canadian national.
