NEMO minister attends regional forum in Colombia
Belmopan, CAYO. Sunday, June 24, 2018. Minister of National Emergency Management Organization Edmond Castrol was in Cartagena, Columbia at the end of last week for the 6th Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction int eh Americas.
While in the Colombian capital, MInister Castro also participated in the 3rd meeting of Ministers and Authorities of the Implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030.According to a government press release, the meeting reached consensus on a declaration that recognizes the need to continue strengthening of national and regional platforms designed to adequately address disaster risk reduction.
They also resolved to look more indepth at loss of lives in disasters and damage to infrastructure and how it is dealt with in areas whee there is no recognized administrative or economic boundaries.
The declaration also makes it known that the regional authorities intend to focus more on citizen security and preparation for disaster management and posted disaster recovery processes.
