New international leader for the Salvation Army chosen
By Patrick E. Jones on August 4, 2013
The Salvation Army church has a new international leader.
Commissioner Andre Cox was chosen on the sixth day of the High Council meeting in London, England. General Cox becomes the twentieth leader of the quasi-military style church and social outreach organization.
According to High Council Communications Officer Major Christine Clement, after his election as the new General of the Salvation Army, Commissioner Cox and his wife Silvia “knelt together at the mercy seat while the High Council members sang: ‘I would be thy holy temple’.”
Major Clement reports that “the commissioner then confirmed that he was willing to serve.”
