Passenger bus and pickup truck collide; one fatality reported
Belize City, BELIZE. Thursday, December 29, 2016. There was a fatal crash involving a pickup truck and a passenger bus last night on the Phillip Goldson Highway.
The victim has been identified as Jose Alfaro.
The official police report says that the crash happened between miles 11 and 12 on the Phillip Goldson Highway.
Authorities responded to reports of the RTA around 6 pm and upon arrival found the pickup truck and the bus, both extensively damaged.
Alfaro’s body was a short distance away from his pickup truck.
The driver of the passenger bus, 25 year old Alex Lee McFadzean told police that he was heading from Belize City to St. Paul’s village when the pickup truck that was going in the opposite direction crashed into the bus.
Police say that minor injuries were reported among passengers on board the bus. Alex Lee McFadzean had been detained at the Ladyville police station pending investigations.
