Passenger bus crushes woman’s foot
A woman’s foot was crushed by the front wheel of a passenger bus on Monday morning in Hattieville village, Belize District. Police have identified the victim as Rachel Burke.
According to the official report, Burke was a passenger on a D & E bus, driven at the time by Elias Salazar, 41, which had come to a stop at the pedestrian ramp in Hattieville village just after ten o’clock yesterday morning.
Police say Burke had come tot he front of the bus as the bus eased up at the pedestrian ramp.
While she did not come off the bus, police say that as the bus driver released the brakes and the bus began moving, Burke fell out and the right front wheel of the bus ran over her right foot.
Burke was admitted to the KHMH in a stable condition.
Police have served a notice of intended prosecution on Elias Salazar.
