Placencia police officers do community service in Seine Bight village
Placencia, STANN CREEK. Thursday, February 25, 2016. Police officers are often featured in the news for making arrests, or when some member of the community makes allegations of brutality against them; as is the case in of the Chan family of Bullet Tree Falls village, Cayo.
In an effort to build community relations on the Placencia Peninsula, however, Placencia police today visited the home of visually impaired resident, sixty seven year old Martin Moreira and his brother, sixty nine year old Paul Moreira in Seine Bight Village.
During the visit, the police officers did a cleanup of the yard and homes of the elderly men and gifted them with grocery boxes containing assorted groceries and can foods.
The team of officers was led by Inspector Dennis Miles and supported by Southern Regional Commander Senior Superintendent Ralph Moody.
Also assisting the officers were members of the Seine Bight Village council and students from St Alphonsus Primary school.
This is a campaign adopted by the Placencia Police, who have indicated that another of its kind is being planned.
