Police checkpoints appear to be back
Unitedville, CAYO. Saturday, November 21, 2015. After being suspended prior to the November 4 General Elections, police checkpoints appear to be back on stream.
This afternoon, a motorist on the George Price Highway observed a police checkpoint at a familiar spot on the approach to the bridge at Floral Park in Unitedville village, Cayo.
According to the viewer who provided a photograph of the checkpoint, the officers were seen checking drivers’ licenses and searching passenger busses.
Viewers will recall that there were many concerns raised in mid-October when a leaked Memo to Formation Commanders revealed that the directive from Commissioner of Police Allen Whylie was to “stand down from all vehicular checkpoints countrywide” with immediate effect.
