Police constable implicated in alleged human smuggling

San Ignacio, CAYO. Monday, December 12, 2016. A police constable attached to Benque Viejo del Carmen formation is facing multiple charges, including the facilitation of human smuggling.
This follows the interception of an SUV on Saturday night in Santa Elena town with 8 Salvadorans on board.
The Salvadorans are in Belize Illegally, and charges are being prepared for formal arraignment of the police officer and the Salvadoran nationals on Tuesday in the Magistrate’s Court.
Officer Commanding San Ignacio police Superintendent Richard Rosado gave us details today.
A joint investigation involving the police, Human Services Department and Immigration Department continues.
