Police nab duo on drug trafficking charge
Monday, November 2, 2015. San Ignacio, CAYO. A man and a teenage boy have been arrested and charged for the offence of drug trafficking.
Twenty year olf Jason Cal and the sixteen year old boy, both from San Jose Succotz village, Cayo, were charged after police busted them early on Sunday morning, allegedly with under a pound of marijuana.
Authorities say that police on mobile patrol in San Jose Succotz village around 1 am Sunday, found a group of persons socializing at the primary school building in the village.
Police say that as they approached, two of the persons, namely Jason Cal and the sixteen year old boy, grabbed a bag and took off running.
Officers set chase, and during the pursuit, police say they saw Cal discard the bag in a dark area of the compound.
When Cal and the boy were caught, police took them back to the area where the bag was thrown.
It was retrieved and opened in their presence and police say it contained 252 grams of marijuana.
