Policeman and civilian charged for drug trafficking

Police constable Darrell Swazo, 29, and Herbie Moriera, 30, of Ladyville village, Belize district have been arrested and charged for the crime of drug trafficking.
The duo was busted on Friday afternoon at a checkpoint in Santa Elena town, Cayo. Police say the intercepted a white Mitsubishi car, with PC Swazo in the driver’s seat.
Police say that when they searched the vehicle the found a bag in the trunk of the car containing 2,041.16 grams or four and a half pounds of marijuana.
Both Swaso, who was in his police uniform, and Moriera were arrested and charged jointly for the crime of drug trafficking.
