Post mortem indicates 12 year old possibly died as a result of sport injury
By Patrick E. Jones on December 5, 2013
A funeral service for 12 year old Sabrina Almendarez is being held today in Independence village, Stann Creek district. Almendarez died last Friday after taking ill earlier in the week.
Police initially reported that Sabrina became ill with fever and headache after taking a tetanus shot at school.
A post mortem examination has since certified that Almendarez, who was active in sport, died as a result of “Broncho-aspiration, consequence of cerebral edema due to massive right intra-cerebral hemorrhage as a result of blunt head trauma.”
In short, it appears that the tetanus shot had nothing to do with the demise of the young lady.
