Public Hearings on Auditor General’s report to start in November
Belmopan, CAYO. Wednesday, October 19, 2016. Public hearings by the Senate Special Select Committee will start on Wednesday, November 9, 2016.
That announcement was made in a Communique issued this evening by the Clerk of the National Assembly.
The Senate Special Select Committee held its second meeting today and elected Senator Aldo Salazar as the chairman.
According to the Communique “the Committee will be calling witnesses in the following order: the Auditor General and her support staff; followed by the CEO, Director, others, the Minister and the Minister of State from the Ministry of Immigration and Nationality, who were in office during the review period.”
During today’s meeting inside of the Committee Room of the National Assembly Building in Belmopan, the Committee’s budget was approved and will now be submitted to the Ministry of Finance.
The official release from the National Assembly notes that “neither the Opposition Senator nor the Senator for the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Belize Business Bureau were in attendance.”
The same Communique explains that “Senator [Markhelm] Lizarraga is away on medical business.”
