Punta Gorda Town Council gifted garbage trucks
Punta Gorda, TOLEDO. Wednesday, September 25, 2019. The Punta Gorda Town Council will soon have two new garbage trucks to add to its fleet.
The trucks are being procured through a grant from the government of Japan under its Grass Roots Human Security Project.
According to a press release from the embassy of Japan, the grant to the PG Town Council for the garbage trucks is equivalent to BZ$484,635.
Mayor Ashton McKenzie will be in Belmopan on Thursday morning to sign the grant agreement.
He posted pictures of two trucks with the caption: “a look at what’s coming,” on his Facebook page, anticipating the addition of the two vehicles that will greatly assist in keeping Belize’s southernmost municipality clean.
Signing the grant agreement on behalf of the government of Japan will be ambassador Hiroyuki Kubota.
Thursday’s signing ceremony takes place at 10 am at the Bull Frog Inn in Belmopan.
