PUP convention chooses standard bearer for Belmopan
The People’s United Party Belmopan constituency has chosen Patrick Jason Andrews as its standard bearer for that division.
Andrews beat out three other candidates in a constituency convention held on Sunday, November 3 in the nation’s capital. According to reports, Andrews garnered seven hundred and eighty eight votes.
Runner up is the former Standard Bearer Amin Hegar with six hundred and fifty three votes.
Newcomer Oscar Mira received two hundred and ninety two votes, while the only female candidate on the convention ballot Ruth Logan received two hundred and forty three votes.
Sixteen ballots were spoiled.
With the victory in Sunday’s convention, Andrews now prepares to take on incumbent two-time area representative for Belmopan, Honorable John Saldivar in the next general elections, constitutionally due in 2017.
