Relief supplies for fire victims in Caye Caulker village
San Ignacio, CAYO. Wednesday, September 25, 2019. Relief supplies have started to arrive for victims of a deadly fire in Caye Caulker village on September 21, 2019.
One man identified as Elmer Chub perished in the blaze which gutted a two storey building on Avenida Langosta in Caye Caulker.
The building that was destroyed housed Nando’s Golf Cart Rentals and Apartments.
Four families, with over a dozen individuals were left homeless because of the fire.
Hours after the fire, personnel from the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) were on the ground delivering relief supplies to the island for the benefit of the fire victims.
These relief supplies were handed over by NEMO’s Central Region Coordinator Al Westby.
The supplies were ferried to Caye Caulker via the Belize Defence Force Defender Aircraft and a vessel from the Belize National Coast Guard.
