Said Musa recuperates
Belize City, BELIZE. Friday, May 8, 2020. Former Prime Minister and current area representative for Fort George Division Rt. Hon. SAid Musa is hospitalized in Belize City.
The senior statesman was admitted to hospital on Thursday night, according to a statement published on Friday morning by his son, current area representative for Caribbean Shores, Kareem Musa.
The Musa family statement said: “The Family of the Right Honorable Said Musa would like to inform the Belizean people that he was admitted to hospital last night with symptoms of a mild stroke. He received emergency treatment overnight and is alert and stable. He will be in hospital over the next few days. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, visitors are limited to immediate family members.”
Messages of best wishes and prayers for the former Prime Minister has been coming in from all over the country and from both sides of the political divide.
In a statement issued on Friday morning, the Leader of the People’s United Party, John Briceno called on the nation to “join us in prayer for the speedy recovery of former Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Said Musa.”
The PUP leader’s statement ends by saying that “we extend our wishes for a full recovery and join his family as they stand vigil with a Leader, Statesman and Politician who has spent his life in service of his people and country.”
Prime Minister Dean Barrow also offered best wishes for a speedy recovery for Mr. Musa during his press conference this morning.
Said Musa, who succeeded Rt. Hon. George Price as leader of the People’s United Party, served as Prime Minister of Belize for two consecutive terms, from 1998 to 2008.
