San Ignacio police investigate alleged sexual assault of teenage girl

A woman from San Antonio village, Cayo has reported to police that her 14 year old daughter was sexually assaulted by a man.

Because of the nature of the crime, the identity of neither the mother nor the child could be released.

The incident is reported to have happened on Friday night; but the report was only made on Wednesday morning. 

According to the San Ignacio police, the woman was alerted of the sexual assault by her son who told her that she needed to go see what a man was doing to her 14 year old daughter.

Police say that when the mother made checks with her daughter, the little girl told her that she was taken behind the house by a man she knows, where he had sexual intercourse with her.

Police investigations continue.
