San Ignacio police nab escaped prisoner
Tuesday, October 20, 2015. San Ignacio, Cayo. San Ignacio police have recaptured an escaped convict who had eluded authorities for two and a half weeks.
Nineteen year old Carlos Garcia, a resident of San Ignacio town, gave authorities the slip at the start of the month.
Police say that on the morning of October first, while they were serving food to prisoners in custody, they noticed that Garcia who was serving two months in jail for possession of a controlled drug, was missing from the cell block.
San Ignacio police got a break when they were notified of Garcia’s presence on the Bullet Tree Road and on Monday afternoon they apprehended the escaped prisoner.
Police say Garcia was apprehended near the Puma Gas station and will be charged for the offence of escape.
