Separate traffic incidents at bridge in St. Margaret village
Belmopan, CAYO. Sunday, November 19, 2017. A man from Belize City died in a road traffic incident on Saturday night.
Two passengers in the car he was driving sustained injuries. Information received say that around 9:51 pm on Saturday, police and transport department officials went to single-lane bridge between miles 31 and 32 on the Hummingbird Highway in St. Margaret village, Cayo, where they found a small car that was extensively damaged.
The driver, identified as 36 year old Glen Bert Reneau was dead at the scene.
Authorities say he sustained head and body injuries when he lost control of the car and crashed into the bridge, which has no guard rails.
The car ended up in the creek beneath the bridge.
26 year old Glendale Ramos who was in the front passenger seat sustained injuries to his right hand, while 21 year old Maria Ramirez who was seated in the back seat sustained injuries to her left foot.
Saturday night’s crash at the bridge in St. Margaret village was the second in 24-hours.
On Friday night a pickup truck also crashed at the same location.Quick response from both the Belmopan Transport Department personnel and Police Officers from Belmopan meant they were on the scene in time to render assistance to victims of the both incidents.

The authorities are waiting until a 80-seater tourist or James bus plunge into St. Margaret Village Bridge before it can be considered requiring attention.
