Son shoots his father on News Year’s Day
A 53 year old man is fighting for his life after he was shot in the head on New Year’s Day allegedly by his own son.
Hensley Jones, a resident of Ranchito village, Corozal, was in the kitchen area of his home around 10:30 pm on January 1 along with his son Hensleigh Ryan Jones, 30, when the shooting happened.
Police say the elder Jones was shot in the head by the young Jones “for no apparent reason.”
When police arrived at the scene of the crime, they found Hensley Jones, also known as Nick bleeding from the head.
He was rushed to the Corozal community hospital via ambulance and later transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City where he remains in a critical condition.
Police say Jones suffered three gunshots, two to the left side of the head and one to the back of his head. Hensleigh Ryan Jones has been detained by Corozal police.
Authorities have also recovered a .38 Smith and Wesson revolver and (5) live .38 rounds of ammunition which are being held as exhibit.
Police investigations continue.
