Street fixing starts in advance of Municipal Elections in Punta Gorda
Punta Gorda, TOLEDO. Friday, January 12, 2018. Municipal Elections are less than two months away.
When voters in Punta Gorda town, Toledo, go to the polls on Wednesday, March seventh, they will have at least three choices; those being the incumbent United Democratic Party, (UDP); the main Opposition People’s United Party, (PUP) and the Belize Progressive Party, (BPP).
One of the candidates vying for the mayoral seat, the UDP’s Ashton McKenzie announced on his social media page this week that Phase 2 of the scheduled Road Works in Punta Gorda has commenced.
According to McKenzie, just over two hundred thousand and four thousand dollars will be spent on these road works.
Mckenzie explains that the work currently underway is only preparatory work only and not the final product.
This project, Mckenzie says, is being supervised by the Ministry of Public Works and being executed by locally owned company Belize Minerals Limited.
This phase two of the project, according to Mckenzie is a continuation of the works started in September.
