Teenager shot in the neck in Belize City
Belize City, BELIZE. Tuesday, January 24, 2017. A 19 year old Belize City man is listed in critical condition after he was shot in the next on Monday night.
The shooting victim has been identified as Keimar Nicholas, a resident of Lindo’s alley.
According to police reports, Nicholas was socializing with friends on a neighborhood basketball court around 8:40 pm on Monday when a man approached them on a bicycle.
Police say the man, described as being tall, fired shots at the young men, hitting Nicholas to the left side of his neck.
He was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment and remains in a critical condition.
As the police investigation continues, authorities say they have recovered a bicycle on Cemetery Road believed to be the one that the gunman was riding as he accosted the young men in Lindo’s Alley.
Police say they also recovered a firearm with an empty magazine which they suspect was used in Monday night’s shooting incident.
