Toledo village youths cause community disturbance

Residents of San Antonio village, Toledo were left shaken after a public disturbance last night involving rival groups of young people. 

Reports from the remote Toledo village say the violence erupted around 8:45 pm at one of the bars in the center of the village. 

Reports are that the disturbance started with an exchange of obscenities and deteriorated quickly to a physical confrontation and ended with the throwing of missiles. 

Over a dozen mainly teenagers are reported to have been involved in the incident which went on for over 90- minutes. 

During the disturbance, one woman ran tot he police station to get help, but reports are that the resident policeman was not at his post.

At one point, it is reported that an axe, machete and knives were introduced to the village fight. 

Stones were hurled at a house near the community center and even the house of a BDF soldier was pelted with stones hurled by the out of control youths. 

A report from someone on the ground in the village last night indicates that when a police mobile arrived around 9:10 pm, the misbehaving youths ran for cover.

Five minutes after arriving in the village, reports are that the police mobile took off after getting no response from honking their horn at the empty police substation. 

Once the police mobile left, the unruly youths returned and began throwing stones again. 

Residents of San Antonio village are complaining that these acts of violence are a regular occurrence, particularly on the weekend. 

They are now appealing to village leaders and the police to intervene to prevent the situation to escalate to serious if not deadly violence in the future.
