Traffic accident on the Hummingbird Highway
By Patrick E. Jones on September 1, 2015
Belmopan, Belize. Tuesday, September 1, 2015. Commuters on a passenger bus got quite a scare late this evening when a bus operated by Belize Bus Owners Cooperative (BBOC) ran off the Hummingbird Highway.
The frightening incident happened near the Shanghai Service Station and involved the bus and an SUV, both of which ran off the road.
One of the passengers on the bus says that the driver of the 5 pm BBOC bus to Belize City swerved to avoid hitting the SUV but contact could not be avoided.
Preliminary reports say only minor injuries were reported among passengers on the bus, while occupants of the SUV appear to have been more seriously injured.
