Trio of Guatemalans detained by Belizean authorities
Monday, April 18, 2016. San Ignacio, CAYO. Three Guatemalan nationals were detained by Belizean authorities for illegal activities inside of the Chiquibul Forest Reserve in Cayo.
According to an official release from the Belize Defence Force, a joint patrol involving BDF soldiers, the Police Department and Friends for Conservation and Development, found Juan Che Zuc, Pablo Martinez and Jeconias Che Xol approximately 8 kilometers east of the Belize-Guatemala border.
The patrol was conducted on Saturday in the area of Ceibo Chico.
The official release says that at the time of their detention, the Guatemalans had in their possession 366 grams of marijuana.
They were handed over to San Ignacio police pending charges for Immigration and Forestry offences as well as drug possession charges.
