Tropical Disturbance heading for Belize
The weather over Belize will see a lot of rainfall for the next day or so as the remnants of what was Tropical Storm Hanna makes its way across the country.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami reported this morning that the remnants of TS Hanna is now a well-defined low pressure system that has now emerged back into the Caribbean Sea over the Gulf of Honduras near Roatan.
The low pressure system is producing scattered showers across the north-western Caribbean Sea and adjacent areas of northern Honduras, the Yucatan Peninsula and Belize.
Forecasters say that upper-level winds are somewhat favourable for redevelopment of the system but the proximity to land will prevent any significant redevelopment of the tropical disturbance while it moves west-north-westward at a forward speed of 10 miles per hour.
The National Hurricane Center’s forecast is for the tropical disturbance to move inland over Belize and northern Guatemala by Wednesday morning.
