Tropical Storm Elsa forming
Punta Gorda, TOLEDO. Wednesday, June 30, 2021. The National Hurricane Center in Miami (USA) is issuing public advisories on Tropical Depression number 5 of the 2021 Hurricane Season.
By Thursday, TD5 is expected to be upgraded to Tropical Storm Elsa.
On Wednesday night, TD5 was located 1,020 miles east-south-east of the Windward Islands and carrying maximum sustained winds of 35 miles per hour.
TD5’s forward movement was clocked at 23 miles per hour in a westward direction.
Forecasters at the Miami-based National Hurricane Center expect that on the current forecast track, TD5 (Tropical Storm Elsa) will move into the eastern Caribbean Sea on Friday evening.
The tropical system is expected to gain faster forward motion in the next day or so and is expected to approach southern Hispaniola on Saturday.
