U.S embassy to hold Town Hall meeting in Punta Gorda
While the meeting is geared primarily at United States citizens living in the Toledo district, Belizeans can also attend the meeting to seek answers to questions they may have for the consular officials.
The meeting takes place at the Boneville Café at the Sea Front Inn starting at 11 am and running through to 1 pm.
According to an official release, U.S. Embassy officials “will introduce staff from the Embassy who provide assistance to U.S. citizens in Belize, discuss the services the U.S. Embassy provides, and answer questions you may have about our services.”
The topics that will be addressed at the meeting include: “security in Belize, hurricane preparedness, and information on renewing your passport via DHL.”
Limited consular services will be provided during the meeting.
Persons wishing to renew their U.S. passport are asked to bring their current U.S. passport, completed form DS-82, a passport photo and a clear copy of the biographic data page.
The cost of passport renewal for adults is US$110.Renewal of the passport for a child is US$105. For the renewal of a U.S. child’s passport, the parents must bring along the current passport, completed DS-11 for, a passport picture, clear copy of passport biographic data page, birth certificate, plus copies of each parents’ identification document.
The U.S. embassy notice states that both parents must be present if they are listed on the birth certificate.
The notice explains that the “fee for first adult renewal after age 16 is BZ$270 or US$135.”Notary services at this month’s meeting in Punta Gorda will be US$50 per seal.
