“Unauthorized” Facebook accounts prompt official notice
Belmopan, CAYO. Tuesday, February 28, 2017. The government of Belize recently put out a statement clarifying that all official communication from Prime Minister Dean Barrow is shared with the general pubic via the Government Press Office.
This follows confirmation that at least two “unauthorized” Facebook accounts have been seeking to establish contact with the public on that social media platform.
The official announcement from the Office of the Prime Minister states that “any pages purporting to be the personal or official account or or bearing photos or personal information of Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow are fake and unauthorized.”
As such, the official statement advises, that the general public should “disregard and friend requests or communication from such pages.”
The public is also advised to “refrain from sharing any personal information with said accounts.”
Having said that then, it must be clarified that “all communication from the Prime Minister are shared by the Government of Belize Press Office on its official Facebook page.”
