Vehicle for Youth Challenge Program
Belmopan, Tuesday, July 30, 2019. The Belize Youth Challenge Program which offers life-changing skills training for “at risk” adolescents today got a boost from a corporate citizen.
Belize Natural Energy (BNE), handed over a Toyota Hilux pickup truck to the program during a brief ceremony in Belmopan.
According to a government press release, the donated pickup truck “will be used primarily to provide driving lessons to the cadets as part of their skills training and as an admin vehicle for the cadre of instructor who are responsible for the discipline and daily administration of the course.”
Started in October of 2017, the Belize Youth Challenge is a 10-month residential program designed to help young people get a better start in life.
The program uses military discipline to bring across academics, vocational and life skills to the participants.
So far fifty three youth have completed the training and another 40 are due to begin training in August.
The donation was handed over by the Chief Executive Officer of Belize Natural Energy Marlow Neal and was received by the CEO in the MInistry of NAtional Security Felix Enriquez.
Deputy Commandant of the Belize Youth CHallenge, Captain Ivan Locario was also on hand to witness the handing over of the donation.
