Vehicles collide in San Ignacio town; two are hurt
Two people suffered injuries when two vehicles crashed around 6:20 pm in San Ignacio town, Cayo. The incident involved an Isuzu Trooper and a Rav4.
According to someone who was at the scene shortly after the crash, the Trooper was going up on Teodoso Ochoa Street when it allegedly crashed into the Rav4 which was going in the opposite direction.
Inside the Rav4 were Saira Yvette Martinez and her mom Santos Martinez both of whom reportedly suffered head and facial injuries.
The extent of those injuries is not yet known.
They were first taken to the San Ignacio Community Hospital and later taken to the La Loma Luz Seventh Day Adventist Hospital in Santa Elena town.
Exactly what caused the accident is not now known and will be determined in the official investigation; but preliminary indications are that the front driver side wheel, including the CV Joint came off the Trooper, which may have sent it crashing into the side of the Rav4.
Santos Martinez is a local pastor of the Bethel Pentecostal church in San Ignacio town.
