Weekend rice harvest to benefit children
Orange Walk Town, ORANGE WALK. Tuesday, July 17, 2018. Belize Camping Experience will be holding a Harvest for Kids event this coming Saturday in the Orange Walk district.
The event is a big rice harvest.
After months of planting and tending the crop, approximately 30 acres of rice will be harvested on Saturday afternoon at the entrance to Blue Creek village in the Orange Walk district.
As part of the big event, Belize Camping Experience will be taking a group of children from Belize City to witness the event.
For the last five years, Belize Camping Experience has been partnering with the private sector to plant and harvest grains in various parts of the country.
Proceeds from these harvests go towards giving children from the inner cities an opportunity to experience things they normally would not get a chance to see.
Saturday’s rice harvest will begin at 1 pm and the general public is being invited to come out and witness this event.
