Welcome to Na Luum Ca
Na Luum Ca, TOLEDO. Tuesday, August 27, 2019. Classes resumed on Monday, August 26, 2019 for students attending the Tumul k’in Center of Learning in Blue Creek village, Toledo.
One of those students is Desmond Cal, who hails from Na Luum Ca, a village on the other side of the Toledo district from where Cal attends secondary school.
Fresh from an intensive training session on the basics of journalism, Cal took time out to capture some scenes from his home village to share with the rest of Belize and the world.
These snapshots help to tell the story of the quiet, rural community, which is predominantly a Mopan Maya village.
According to Cal, there are roughly 30 families that call Na Luum Ca home.
To get to Na Luum Ca village, you drive towards San Jose on the Crique Jute road.
It is a bumpy ride, but the warmth and hospitality of the people of Na Luum Ca, coupled with the sights and sounds of this rural Toledo community is worth the trip.
On a typical evening in Na Luum Ca, the youth would be engaged in a spirited game of either football or volleyball.
Chairman of the village Abelino Oh and proud resident Daniel Cal would be more than happy to welcome you to Na Luum Ca village, Toledo.
